Offering class-leading boot and passenger space and highly advanced safety systems, the Nissan X-Trail is an immensely practical family SUV. With the option of five or seven seats, and a choice between front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive, the X-Trail range has something for every buyer.
The X-Trail moves away from conventional SUV design. The boldly-sculpted wheel arches and sporty stance give this model a confident road presence. The sharp features of the front end are complemented by Nissan’s LED signature headlights and an athletic black honeycomb grille. The Visia model features 17-inch alloy wheels as standard, and the Acenta variant adds front fog lamps.
Inside, the X-Trail offers class-leading passenger space and 550 litres of boot space. You can also choose to add a third row of seats, creating room for a total of seven people. The driver-focused cockpit is well-appointed in all trim levels, and the entry-level Visia model features air conditioning and Bluetooth® connectivity as standard. Upgrade to the Acenta variant and you can enjoy a panoramic sunroof, and the range-topping Tekna has leather upholstery and electrically adjustable and heated seats.
Performance and efficiency
Whether your journey takes you around town or on a long motorway stint the X-Trail is easy and relaxing to drive, with light, responsive steering and impressive power from a range of engines. There is a 1.6-litre dCi diesel engine, which develops 128bhp and 320Nm of torque, and four-wheel drive is exclusively available with this option. Opt for the front-wheel drive option and the X-Trail returns up to 57.6mpg combined, with CO2 emissions of 129g/km. The fastest option is the 1.6-litre petrol unit, which uses 160bhp to accelerate from zero to 60mph in around 9.5 seconds.
Safety and technology
Nissan has equipped the X-Trail with the very latest safety technology. The standard specification includes Hill Start Assist and Active Trace Control, which monitors your speed and steering input through corners to adjust your line if necessary. The n-tec model includes the Smart Vision Pack, which incorporates Forward Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition technologies. Opt for the range-topping Tekna model for Nissan’s cutting-edge Safety Shield system, which adds Blind Spot Warning and Moving Object Detection.
