Cromer Runner Logan Smith Wins Bronze on Great Britain Debut at 50km World Championships
Local Runner Logan Smith Wins Bronze at 50km World Championships
Crayford & Abbs is incredibly proud to celebrate the remarkable success of Cromer endurance runner Logan Smith, who has secured a bronze medal at the 50km World Championships in New Delhi on his debut representing Great Britain.
The 28-year-old completed the gruelling ultra-distance race in an outstanding 2 hours, 47 minutes and 29 seconds, earning a place on the podium in one of the most competitive fields in international distance running.
The race saw an incredible performance from Team GB, with British runners completing a historic podium clean sweep. Logan crossed the finish line behind teammates Alex Milne (2:46:09) and Charlie Davis (2:47:15), securing bronze while helping Great Britain claim team gold in the championship standings.
Battling Heat, Humidity and a 4am Start
The race took place under challenging conditions in India, with organisers scheduling a 4:00am start in an effort to reduce the intense heat athletes would face later in the day.
Despite this, temperatures still rose into the mid-20s with high humidity, while air quality in New Delhi presented an additional challenge for the runners.
Logan prepared extensively for these conditions in the lead-up to the event, incorporating heat acclimatisation training and sauna sessions to ensure he could perform at his best.
The race itself was run on a 5km road circuit completed ten times, demanding both physical endurance and careful pacing strategy across the full 50km distance.
A Dream Great Britain Debut
Speaking after the race, Logan described the experience as beyond anything he had imagined.
Winning an individual bronze medal while contributing to Great Britain’s team gold made his first appearance on the international stage a moment he described as “beyond my wildest dreams.”
The performance also places Logan among the fastest European athletes ever over the distance, further cementing his reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting endurance runners.

A Proud Moment for North Norfolk
Everyone at Crayford & Abbs has been following Logan’s journey closely and we are immensely proud to have supported his fundraising efforts as he prepared for the World Championships.
Seeing a local athlete from Cromer reach the podium on the world stage is an incredible achievement and a moment of pride for the entire North Norfolk community.
Looking Ahead
Following his success in New Delhi, Logan already has his sights set on the future. With ambitions to compete at the Olympic Games one day, he plans to continue competing across both marathon and ultra-distance events as he builds toward the next stage of his career.
We wish Logan every success as his journey continues and look forward to cheering him on in the races ahead.
