Uk Gov Announce Electric Car Grant Scheme

Government Launches New EV Grant Scheme – Making Electric Cars More Affordable Than Ever

From July 2025, the UK Government will introduce a brand-new Electric Vehicle (EV) grant scheme, designed to make the switch to electric driving more accessible for more drivers. With up to £3,750 off the price of a new electric car, this initiative is a significant step toward reducing emissions and accelerating the transition to a cleaner, greener future.

At Crayford & Abbs, we welcome this news as passionate advocates for sustainable motoring. As authorised dealers for Nissan, MG, and Subaru, we already offer a growing range of battery-electric and hybrid-electric vehicles (HEVs) – and this grant will make them even more appealing to cost-conscious drivers who don’t want to compromise on performance or comfort.

What is the 2025 EV Grant?

The new grant is aimed at brand-new, battery-only electric cars priced under £37,000. Two levels of support will be offered:

  • £3,750 for the most environmentally sustainable vehicles.

  • £1,500 for others that meet core eligibility criteria.

The discount will be applied at the point of sale, and manufacturers must apply for their vehicles to qualify.

What Does This Mean for You?

This scheme is great news for customers looking to reduce their carbon footprint while enjoying the benefits of lower running costs, road tax exemptions, and a smoother, quieter driving experience.

It also complements ongoing investment in EV infrastructure, including new funding to support at-home and on-street charging solutions — ideal for both urban and rural drivers here in North Norfolk and beyond.
